Well this painting is from Vin Diesels Chronicles of Riddick. The scene where they are
trying to escape from Crematoria.
But FIRST! A little story:
I started base colors late at night and went to sleep. Only to awaken at 4 in the morning
because of the firealarm. An hour and a half later the firemen let everyone back into the
building. Turns out I can't sleep. Because of the smoke, whenever I tried to lay down the
back of my throat clogged up. So I did what any other respectable artist does at 5:30 in the
morning... I went back to work on this piece.
Twelve hours to get most of the colors and shape down. 8 for Riddick and 4 for Kira. I did
a 'how to' pic as I went along and oit is uploaded into my scraps section. I ran outta room
on the how-to pic so it doesn't show the cleanup of Kira to what you see before you.
I like the movie and watched it while I was painting this pic. I'm not a huge fan of Vin but
when he puts his mind to it, he can produce quite a fun movie.
I tried painting the background as well...and failed... I got a few things... like part of
the guy behind Riddick. In the end I gave up, did various filters and fills and large paint
strokes. Threw a Stained Glass filter and the did a Zoom blur. I did a frame around the pic
because I think it makes the two in the foreground stand out more. Please excuse my silly
background I tried
So to Recap This is what happens when Fire wakes a cranky jeanette in the middle of the night and she can't get back to sleep. The crapy background is the result of Cranky Jeanette wanting to get this pic done today as opposed to taking time and doing full scale paint job. I swear if I could do better background my art would be worth something other than making people happy
But because my art makes people happy I'll continue trying and maybe one of these days my work will stop sucking.
Check out my scraps to see how I painted the two of them... if you wanna...
